Project Shift

Week 6 started with a change in project direction, you remember that huge FigJam board for recipe? Well that project actually has been changed to be finished, as Eli wants more focus on our portfolios, which is fine by me, I couldn’t be bothered doing another cookbook app, just sucks I interviewed people for there not to be an app for them, ah well!

As mentioned before, Portfolios are now the main concern, and the first thing we had to do was create another FigJam board detailing what we want our portfolio to be, I’ve done one already but I decided that I’m going to change it dramatically, and I can’t wait! Here is a preview link to my FigJam board, I’m sure it’ll be updated continuously:

I want today folder kind of design to organise it, as I felt the boxes didn't really fit the last fig jam, and with this one I can sort of do what I want within reason. I still have to talk about why it works, which I've not really done yet, I just kind of assume people will know what I mean if I just show them it rather than saying why it works. It works because it's green, for example, and green is eye-catching. Anyway, I've decided to look at other topics in as well. I maybe haven't done that yet, but I will. I wanna look at different web builders and also wanna focus on outside side hustles

Resources Talk

I asked Eli if I could maybe show the class some resources they could use and maybe point them in the right direction, as I heard their last UX lecturer was a bum… and I've been kind of gate keeping things when I really shouldn't, because I think it would be valuable for them to know, and it also helps me. I've never really taught anything, and I've always wanted to so this would be a great way to like demo that. For the future maybe.

Eli wanted me to text him what I was gonna talk about, so I was gonna write a little script that I will readout and then record myself and then get AI to transcript what I said, and then edit or add when necessary, and then just follow it along in class when your presenting:

Web Resources for you to use

WCAG - Web Accessibility Standards

The first resource I want to show is WCAG, or web accessibility standards. So just type in Google "web accessibility standards", and it should be the first link you see. Go to the latest one, and then you'll get to the guidelines.

I'm not saying to read all through it. I'm saying maybe Cmnd C, Cmnd V, into Gemini and summarise the important bits! It would vastly improve the look of your website by following these guidelines as they allow for more people to engage with and understand your work.

Colorable

Pairs well with WCAG, You would use this tool to see if your text is legible with the background colour and font colour, You want it to be triple A Level, you can get away with AA when the text is huge, but never use a fail

Spline

Spline is a 3D tool you could use to embed 3D objects into your website, You could use it with HTML and CSS but I also saw a way you could put one in with framer, I have a link which I’ll share later, or you could look it up
