DD EI, Week 10, 31/03/25, Landing Page + Guest Lecture

Intro

So after the Brand Guidelines, The screens and as I’m writing this the work in progress that is the design system. I need to make a landing page for my bank, which is the first result website that your Bank will have to promote itself to new customers. I plan to make it on Figma as I feel I just wouldn’t have the time to complete it on HTML & CSS though that would be interesting, maybe if I finish the design system in time I could look into it but as of now I have no confidence it is possible. But with all that being said I want to look at:

Examples

Monzo

I have based my identity of Monzo so I feel that it is fair to include them in the examples. I’ll go over my thoughts and how this makes a good landing page through three main principles: Design, Tone of Voice and Content. So with that being said here is Monzo, and instantly the first thing that caught my attention was the guy in the bathtub, why is he in the bathtub? I don’t know, not even the text on the image relates to it, It just doesn’t make a lot of sense and I appreciate the tone of voice but the imagery could be a lot better, I suppose by looking at it you could say the benefits on the right relate to the image but my brain is wired to think that a box like that is just transactions.

Scroll down a bit and you’ll see this, similar to what I made before to showcase my brand, maybe I could recycle some assets, But this is a good way to showcase features of the app by using photography, design and tone of voice.

I was considering using the common 30 Billion users and growing but I wasn’t sure, but I feel with the use of stock image users and a fake trust pilot review it could make the landing page seem more legit, maybe I could work in a slogan here: 4 Million Users Levelling up with XP

Scrolling through the end which took a while as it showcases a lot of features I found this bottom page to be a good touch so I will include a download the app part near the bottom, I don’t think making the landing page too long is going to help, I want to focus on quality rather than quantity here.

Chase

I then decided to look at Chase Bank’s landing page as that is who I bank with and instantly I noticed the rounded edges on the bottom corners of the image, Maybe it’s because I’m a designer but I hate that, anyways moving on I Like the Components being used on the screen, Not sure If I like the phone outline, But I do like how the image tells a story, The woman used chase to save money for a coffee machine, I feel that is a good thing to have in a landing page.

I liked this usage of interactivity and design in the landing page, Promoting benefits with Chase bank, I will see to putting something like this on the landing page to further push quality over quantity.

A lot of the landing page is similar to Monzo just listing off features like below but I thought it was a good idea to have a checklist of requirements to join the bank, this is a good tone of voice input making customers aware before applying so they know what they need to be instead of getting rejected after 2 hours of application.
