I’ve had some prior experience giving talks, and I’ve done a little pitches, But for this project I wanted to learn more about talking, so I did some research into that, I looked at pitches, some talks from people I’m inspired by and even interviews.

Shark Tank

Now shark tank is the American version of Dragons Den, which is so boring by the way, but realistic. I like shark tank because everything is cranked to 11 and you can learn a lot from peoples pitches. I watched some pitches, the worst ones and the best ones and I found the worst ones typically had

• Aggressive tone when their idea was challenged
• Poorly backed research
• repeating the same thing over and over
• Not taking the time to think about what their going to say
• Having too much of an ego
• I’m right your wrong. Inability to listen to feedback
• Being delusional, not having the ability to accept facts.

And I found that the best ones, typically had these in common

• A real passion
• Willingness to listen
• Knowing their stuff
• Thinking before speaking
• Open to ideas or harder questions
• Being confident, Not cocky
• Letting the sharks air out frustrations and then solving them politely
• A good idea
• Looking into target markets
