DHD Slideshow

When I applied for DHD, I noticed that there was a portfolio pdf to submit, so I thought that making a pitch would standout, I spent about four hours making it and copied their design style to sort of appeal to them, there isn’t much to talk about as I didn’t write notes or do any research/ideation. I just wanted to make something to show to them as soon as possible so I could also do the DailyPay cover letter, I do think it is worth showing, so below is a link of the pdf I made for DHD in hopes I get a job.

DailyPay Cover Letter

So I decided it would be a smart idea to apply to dailypay before they came in for a talk, but I didn’t write a cover letter. Why? I forgot and it wasn’t necessary, but I want to stick out to daily pay so I had the idea of creating a cover letter that’s half my design and at the bottom it’s half their colours and icons. But first I need to write the cover letter, I want it to be personal as well as professional

Cover Letter

Hello! I’m Jared Russell. Now you may be wondering, haven’t I heard that name? Well that’s possible! As I applied on the 15th of October! I suppose you could say I was enthusiastic about working for DailyPay or I wanted you to know me before the talk at Ulster. But that doesn’t matter. What matters is why I want to work for DailyPay and why I would be a perfect fit for DailyPay.

I truly believe that DailyPay’s goal of building a financial system that works from the minute works starts. Is truly innovative and human centred. As a supervisor who gets paid every two weeks I’m left with a “struggle week” which is frustrating. That’s when I took a look at DailyPay and just said out loud. “That’s Genius.” I also believe DailyPay links design to that system perfectly as well as accessibility, whether that’s turning confusing financial information to something intuitive and empowering, or a nice calm brand tone that delivers a trustworthy and calming aesthetic. It’s done perfectly.

I believe I would be a great fit for DailyPay as I have a strong attention to detail, the ability to manage heavy workloads and a genuine curiosity for all things design and user experience. I’ve attended Graphic Design at the Belfast metropolitan college and I’m currently studying Digital Design at Ulster University, which has given me many projects that focus on product design, the confidence I’ve gained from those projects will help me to develop ideas and help with the work.

I would love to be able to work for the design team at DailyPay as it would lend me the knowledge of working in a real design environment and the motivation to work in that environment in the future as well. So please, Get in touch! I would love to talk about my projects both done in school and personally!

Thank you for visiting my class and giving a talk, and thank you for considering my application!

Kind regards

Jared

I decided the best way to stand out was to appeal to DailyPay’s design, but I wanted to add a bit more to the cover letter, I noticed on the we’re hiring it had a nice speakerphone icon, so I decided to find some icons on the noun project and redraw them on illustrator, then add them to the cover letter.

I then printed the cover letter and hand wrote the DailyPay logo to send to them!

DailyPay Presentation

For my DailyPay interview, I had to showcase my work, so to do this I created a slideshow on Figma that adhered to the DailyPay style
