I want to start by saying I enjoyed doing content design, It had its trials and tribulations but after creating my own smartwatch app, creating a sustainable cookbook app and even working on an audit for NiDirect. I have successfully achieved these projects well enough beyond my goals. I had originally set out to get everything done by the 17th of December, but I had achieved that goal three weeks earlier, meaning I had a lot of time to redevelop and work on said projects which I enjoyed doing

I had received some feedback from Kyle which said to focus on quality. Not quantity. And while I did add more to these projects, I also took the time to refine and perfect their designs. But enough about redevelopment, I want to talk about the smartwatch app, My favourite out of the three projects, while others complained about the time limit. I loved it, it reduced overthinking and gave me a go for it attitude which I believe has positively impacted the project. Going for a Balatro based design was really fun and helped me a bit with understanding code with AI. I felt the smartwatch has helped me to go for ideas rather than put them down.

I enjoyed working on Scran, it was our biggest project, But I felt I had picked a boring idea to design, so it was hard to be motivated with it sometimes. But it did teach me a lot more about app development and content within those apps. Designing for children is something I had never done before and I did find it challenging, this is something I hope I can work on in the future. As for the UX audit, it was great to work and find issues with a website and fix them. I do worry I have gone way too in-depth but that was simply because I needed to justify and fix these issues as they impact all types of people, something I focused on a lot with this audit, I wanted the design to work for dyslexics, illiterates and more, and I believe that my fixes have helped those who need it.

I enjoyed learning about content design as a whole, I found the lectures to be interesting and worth talking about. I also thought that some of the lectures hands on moments were great and they helped me to understand more of the content. I enjoyed getting someone to browse a website and guide them with instructions, testing them and writing notes. I wish there was more opportunities in the lectures to do that. One thing I did struggle with though was the briefs, I felt they were outdated and so I would make a mistake or just not understand it, this has taught me to communicate, ask questions and talk to others to know what I’m doing and how I’m going to do it.

Overall I enjoyed content design and it has helped me grow more as a designer and learn more about the actual content within design. I hope to use what I’ve learnt from this module for my next semester. As of right now though, I’m going to take a break from all things design, as I’ve been nonstop these past few weeks and I would love to get into my next course fresh and with new inspirations from the world, pop culture and history!
