Drink and Design Night UUUX Society 21/11/24

Me, Declan, Eva and Kaitlin went to the Drink and design night and we were tasked to design a product with randomly selected words from a cup, we got the 3 words: Women, Touch Screen, Travel, so our idea was to create an app that would specialise in helping women travel by using travel index and user experiences to rate the safety of countries for women, below is our development mind maps and our research. unfortunately there was a water spill at our table so some pages got ruined. but I am going to try and create a more refined concept of our app.

I changed some things like colour and made it more simplistic, I even created an app icon. This is just to give a rough idea as to what it’ll look like

What I Learned

I learned how to work better as a team and It was fun to come up with an idea while wasted. but I’d never do it again unless with friends

Figma Deep Dive Tutorial 27/11/24

We got an email from David saying that there would be a tutorial on Figma on Wednesday, so I decided to go to develop my skills. It was delving into Auto-Layout

What is Auto-Layout?

It is a way of setting rules in Figma like Padding and Full-Max Width, this is the main box shown here:

Why Use Auto Layout?

Efficiency - Makes the development faster and easier

Consistency - sets spacing alignment and padding rules ensuring consistency

Scalability - simplifies the process of working with components and design systems

Responsiveness - it enables your design to respond more intelligently to changes in content or screen size

We then held an exercise to use the alignment, direction and gap, padding of auto layout, a thing to note here is that the gap has an auto option which will automatically space out the shapes in its respective alignment
