I had the idea of making a loading animation for when you open the app, the idea is that you’ll see the name brand scatter and then the logo will draw itself in, I want the animation to be smooth so It’ll have to have a lot of frames.
A lot of music apps do this like Spotify for example, where they ask questions about your music taste and what you like to listen to, This is done to tweak the app to your music taste and make it yours. I wanted to give common answers and allow a search feature for those niche artists, Maybe I should add a screen where it shows searched artists. I wanted to add a personal message at the end to thank the user for using the app
For the landing page I wanted to focus on three aspects: Your Music, Your Social and Recent Music News/Announcements. obviously this hasn’t been fully designed it shows layout more than anything but I think this has a lot of potential when designed. I’d probably get rid of the settings and replace it was the 3 lines icon meaning more so settings and other features can be accessed there.
Very standard search, does what it does and well. But for the artist profile I went a little out there with the music videos, popular songs and samples. I wanted it to be easy to navigate and give you the artist immediately after you search, because at the end of the day the most important thing about a music app is the time to music ratio. It should take me under 10 seconds to listen to a song. 15 seconds for a podcast.
for the social media section, I wanted something simplistic like twitter’s UI, easy to view your friends and discover others. one thing I completely forgot about was a search for friends feature so that will have to be implemented. I remember getting feedback about the profile section and layout, I’ll admit it definitely is a little tight so that is something I will fix. I think the posting is fine, It’s simple and easy to use, I suppose the caption is hard to know where it is but it is at the top at the “this album is so..” I may make it easier to see where to put text in
This is just a typical music player, a little boring some of the icons need changed, but I like the feature of lyrics and x-ray, a lot of people love meaning in art, so I feel a deep dive into a songs meaning would be something a listener would be interested in.
I feel the sampling UI will need a lot of work for it to seem legit, an Issue I’m facing is fitting it all into a screen which may be hard. I did rip the Garage band UI so I want to change that/ take from it and make it into my own.
