I then moved on and started to create a style guide for the project

Colours

For this I looked at colours from the set of the great British bake off as well as some of the illustrations of the show and took them as inspiration for my project.

Typography

For typography, I know I need something quite playful, childish but easy to read, I chose Bayon for the logo as it reminded me of the Braun logo, But it easy to read and a little playful with the use of stretch for some words like the A or the O, a flaw with it though is that it is stuck on uppercase, but this flaw could actually work better for children, children aged 5-12 need something bold and easy to read most things, as they’re learning basic english in P1 and doing comprehensions in P7. The all-caps could help with legibility for all ages.

As for the body text, I was genuinely considering comic sans, It is perfect for children for it’s childish design, But Adults will be using this app as well, so it may be tricky to get away with, So I looked for a balance and founded Comic Neue

I feel this strikes the balance perfectly with Childish and Readable. But I think it’s a nice idea to think about comic sans due to the dyslexia and ease of readability, Whilst I feel Comic Neue is a perfect font, it may be wise to consider adding a font like open dyslexic for those with dyslexia/struggle to read. Perhaps If I have the time at the end of the project I could add it.

Logo

I wanted to establish an identity with the logo, I felt something childish and playful would’ve worked best for the established audience. So I did some digital sketches

I then recreated the second one

I think it is too much, so I tried using one icon beside the wordmark.
