We have a critique today for the music app, here is the feedback:

Kyle’s Critique

Colours are great, high contrast and readable

This is good, I already made a little cheat sheet of colour contrast so I knew this, I’d say my main problem of the colour is over using it, If i use it too much the app becomes childish in my opinion so that is something I’ll keep in mind

Icon needs to be worked on - all kind of different sizes

I agree, I’m struggling to create a set of Icons I like and it’s hard to format them, I may go back and just simplify them as I am overthinking it. I think I’ll take some inspiration from Apple Music Icons or even similar icons in non music apps.

Library - needs to be a search icon or a library icon

This relates back to the icon critique, I do agree I was struggling with this too again, I need to stop overthinking it and just create what a library or a search icon is.

Back button is too big - make it same size for all the screens

I also need to ensure that Icons are the same size across the screens and the same pixel height and width. I will do this by creating another Icon sheet with more simplified and nice icons and then create a border that will be the icon size and a secondary one so it shows that I’m not going further, see image here as an example

Interaction is cool

This is good as it shows my efforts in after effects aren’t going to waste and they are achieving what I want the app to do

Progressive Enhancement - use it

During the feedback Kyle mentioned the term Progressive Enhancement which I have no clue what it means but this is what he meant

In Figma design, Progressive Enhancement means prioritising essential content and functionality first, then adding more advanced features and visual polish for users with better browsers or faster connections. This ensures a baseline experience for everyone.

Essentially this means make separate Figma files one for low internet, low performing hardware and one for great internet and beefed PC Specs

Need to ensure frames are the right size

Yeah, I don’t know what happened here if I’m honest, I may be using the wrong prototype phone compared to my actual Figma frame, but I will fix this.

Just create a new file for any horizontal viewings
