General Advice
We got some advice with presenting this lecture, I wrote them in bullet points
- Use Cue Cards rather than A4 as an a4 can make too much noise
- Stand up straight, look confident, if you are any way nervous it’ll affect your presentation
- Make Eye-Contact with the pitch panel - Helps to keep engagement
- Stick to your time limit.
- Use imagery to convey meaning, it is better to put an image, rather than a chunk of text
- Use Plain English and be Succinct. Say everything you need to say, but without a second more of rambling
- Keynote and PowerPoint are the best for design, notes and presenting.
- Account for errors or technical issues/setups
- Limit typefaces for consistency, Don’t use crazy fonts
- Use Subtle Transitions, Nothing crazy
- Use short videos/Gifs - Appropriately. When used right it can be effective
- There is no maximum slides, but be mindful of unnecessary slides
- Use quotes for an effect
- Check your spelling and content
- The Format is 16:9
Approaches
There are different approaches to presenting:
Approach 1: Lay out what you want to cover, You have this itinerary of what you’re talking about. I would say it is not a good approach as it takes audience out of it
