Colour
There are a number of different colour systems, four in particular: CMYK, Pantone, RGB and RAL. By understanding colour systems, you can achieve consistency for your brand design across printed materials, digital experiences and production

CMYK
- Four colour printing process
- Cyan, Magenta, Yellow & Black
- 4 plates used in printing press
- Colours mixed make up
- black / darker colours

RGB

- Screen and electronic displays
- Colours formed using 3 light beams of various intensity
- Colours mixed make up white
NB. RGBa is RGB with an alpha channel used to specify opacity
PANTONE
- Used in printing
- Can be specified for a distinct brand colour
- Ensures consistency of brand colour reproduction

RAL

- Used mainly for powder coating, varnish and plastic coloring.
- You might use this if you require something to be painted in your brand colours like a product or interior walls.
HEXADECIMAL
- Used in displaying web pages
- Displayed in 6 digits with #preceding it, ie. #FFFFFF (White) #000000 (Black)
- Can be used to specify colours in
- CSS or HTML

The Big 8 Brand Colours
This applies a psychology behind 8 popular colours
- RED: Red is the colour of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love.
- BLACK: Black is associated with power, elegance, formality, death, evil, and mystery.
- ORANGE: Orange combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. It is associated with joy, sunshine, and tropics.
- WHITE: White is associated with light, goodness, innocence, and purity. It symbolizes safety, purity, and cleanliness. In heraldry, white depicts faith and purity.
- YELLOW: Yellow is the colour of sunshine. It's associated with joy, happiness, intellect, and energy.
