The purpose of this project was to create a music player that contained iconography and a style guide, that being said I feel as though I’ve made something good here, in this conclusion I will talk about challenges and interests I faced during the development as well as my final thoughts for the project.
I struggled with the iconography, I feel as though I had to re do them around 3 times which was frustrating, but after they were created and properly sized they worked well and support the design of my music app, another point I struggled with was formatting the music app for a phone, I kept messing up the frames size and formatting certain buttons for it that the users thumb would need to use the app, throughout this project I would test the app on my phone which is an iPhone 15 and I would do this to ensure integrity but it actually got to the point where I couldn’t prototype the file as it became too large with the animations so I had to test it on my PC, Which probably led to some inconsistencies sadly, In the future I will plan much better for a mobile layout, prototyping, file size and design style.
What interested me about this project was the idea of combining social media, news and sampling, It definitely meant creating more screens but I was more than happy to do so as it was something I believed in and knew would work well for the app. I also liked making a short little style guide, granted we weren’t given much guidance on it so I just followed suit from my other project XP, I covered typography, colour, iconography and brand. Another interest I have is prototyping, how far could I take it, I had an idea of creating a fake advertisement for the app but obviously I didn’t go through with it as it is not required but I feel that it would be a great way to showcase the app if I could actually make the sampler work but that is probably something to do on a different software not Figma, I hope in the future we get to do something as interactive as that.
This project was a bit of a rollercoaster at times, at the start I really liked the idea and what we were doing and then while developing it I just slowly grew overtime to resent it. why? because it’s hard, it is limiting to create something on a small screen and then ensure that it is formatted correctly. And it was hard for me to just keep working on it due to restrictions and challenges I faced, I feel like me personally that app development isn’t for me now that I’ve made one, so I now have a sense of respect for app developers as I understand now how hard it can be, but overall I tried my best and I do feel I’ve created a music app that is for the user and embraces all kinds of music and allows for creativity.
