I’ve now finished the smartwatch project, I created 11 Unique Screens (as the rest were variations) a presentation to showcase some high quality mockups and a style guide, This Project took me 15 days to develop and finish, I really wish I was given another two weeks to add a little more to the project, I would’ve definitely made some more motion graphics and made the presentation have more motion, similar to that of Apple’s website for a product, the way it moves with your mouse scrolling, but I had to seriously consider my time with this project
The major hitch of the project was the time, three weeks to make an watch app is not long, especially if your idea was a bit more in-depth than it should’ve been, I probably should’ve done a more straight forward project, But I liked my idea and I wanted to stay true to it as I don’t know when the next time I’ll make a smartwatch app. Another gripe I had was the critique, I did not enjoy it. I found it to barely help, I think it annoyed me, Now I will say I took a lot in consideration, I changed backgrounds and screens to make it work and be more accessible, But a lot of the stuff in my feedback was pointless, You cannot tell me the typography is eh and not explain why or what would make it better, I get Helvetica Neue is a common font but there is a good reason for that, I think it was more frustration, at the time I was probably not having a good day, But looking bad now I’m glad I took some things into consideration, as the swirl effect works better when used less as it leaves a stronger impression. I feel as though the critique would’ve went better if Figma was working that day and they could see the prototype. But all feedback is good feedback, whether you like it or not! And I feel that is something I’ve learned from this project.
But I did have fun coding again, it has been a while and I got some help from A.I but I love opening VSC and just working through it, It has me excited for my portfolio website. It is a good project to get warmed up with and prepare you for second year and I’m looking forward for the sustainable development goals project.
