For the colour I wanted something bright originally but decided to go for a slightly darker colour for printing etc. I then spent a while experimenting, I already knew that the main brand colour would be a purple, electric violet to be specific, I realise that Ulster Bank and NatWest have the same idea of using purple but it may work in my favour as well as the idea of a bank having a purple colour scheme wouldn’t be crazy as it has be done before.
Ulster Bank set for purple brand refresh
These are the chosen colours I want for the brand for design reasons as well as colour meaning, which I will get into shortly
Brand Colours - Grape, Electric Violet and White
Functional Colours - Russian Violet, White and the occasional Electric violet
Accent Colours - Electric Blue, Moonstone, Aquamarine, Emerald and Jade
In class we had a Lecture about colour, talking about different meanings it may have. Purple means royalty and ambition in most cultures as well as grieving and the fragility of life in other cultures, which I don’t really want that to be the meaning more the ambition part than anything so that is why I am making the brand purple brighter to curb the dark meaning
Green means wealth in most cultures and I feel like most banks use the colour Green regardless, I plan to use it for anything money related. Green also symbolises growth and harmony so you could relate that to this bank as it is meant to be for beginners and a lot of it’s features is to make you better at banking so that is
Blue is often categorised as depth and stability which is why I chose it, as well as it is a common colour used for banking in general. It also symbolises trust, loyalty and confidence which is a message I want for my bank and it will support my ethics as well.
Below I will go over some of the sketches I’ve done for this project, My thoughts, Ideas and Development
For the front page I wanted something loud and easy to spot that is a brand guidelines for my bank: XP, I’m thinking of creating a border around the brand guidelines so for example it’ll be against a purple background with a 5px wide white border.
I also feel the inclusion of a date is important for the brand guidelines so the designer would know how relevant it is .
I want the contents to fit the whole page as there will be a lot to cover for the project, Another idea I have which I forgot to sketch in was the inclusion of the XP logo in the bottom right. Just to further push the brand identity
The inclusion of Page Numbers is to be noted as well just to keep the designer in line and know where they are at.
